Mon, September 14, 2009 at 1:43PM Loving Christ through the intentional edification of God's people
At Rosemont, we believe very strongly that we are to edify one another for the glory and pleasure of Christ. Christians are God's children. He loved them so much that He gave His beloved Son for their salvation. Now we display our love for Him by loving His children, trying our best to build them up, strengthen them, meet their needs in every way possible.
Informally, we try to assist and strengthen one another through the use of our spiritual gifts. As Paul taught the Corinthians, "the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all." So with that in mind we try to help each other identify and use our spiritual gifts. We don't use a magical formula or a fill-in-the-blanks questionnaire to discover our gifts. We simply look for ministries where we are effective, that we enjoy, and where God consistently opens doors for us. We believe the gift of helps is just as important to the body as the gift of the teaching pastor. If both aren't used to the utmost, the body can't function to the best of its ability. So all professing believers at Rosemont are encouraged to look for and meet the needs of their brothers and sisters with their spiritual gift(s).
